German A2 Course in Delhi and Online

A2 is the second level of German and takes you from survival phrases to actually managing daily life. It needs roughly 100 to 140 hours of class time on top of A1. For most learners A2 is a bridge to B1, but it has one genuine destination use, because since March 2024 nurses can enter Germany on a recognition partnership visa with A2 and complete B1 and B2 while employed there.

Who should take the A2 course?

Most people at A2 are on their way somewhere else. You finished A1, you can introduce yourself, and you now want to stop feeling like a tourist. A2 is the level where daily life in Germany becomes manageable rather than stressful, and it is the foundation B1 assumes you already have.

If you are a nurse, A2 may be a milestone

There is one group for whom A2 is a real milestone rather than a waypoint. Since March 2024 Germany has offered a recognition partnership route that allows nurses to enter the country with A2 German and complete the higher levels while already employed, rather than waiting until B2 before departing. If you are a nurse considering that route, A2 is the level that gets you on the plane. Full professional registration still requires B2. Confirm the current requirement with your employer and the relevant state authority, because these rules changed recently and continue to move.

For everyone else, A2 is structural

Treat A2 as foundation work. The most common reason learners stall partway through B1 is a weak A2, because B1 introduces past tense narrative and connected argument on the assumption that the case system and word order are already automatic. Time spent properly here is time you do not spend repeating B1.

What will you be able to do after A2?

By the end of A2 you can handle routine situations that need a straightforward exchange of information, and you can talk about your own life in simple connected sentences.

What A2 will not do. You cannot yet follow a work meeting, argue a position, or read a newspaper article comfortably. No Ausbildung employer will accept A2 as a language qualification, and no university will. If someone tells you A2 is enough for a job in Germany, they are either mistaken or selling you a shorter course than you need.

What does the A2 syllabus cover?

Six modules, following the framework used by the Goethe and telc A2 examinations, so nothing you learn is wasted when you sit the test.

Module Theme Grammar You will be able to
1 Revision and expansion Consolidation of present tense, cases and word order from A1 Speak about yourself with fewer errors and more range
2 Talking about the past Perfect tense with haben and sein, past participles, simple past of sein and haben Tell someone what you did and what happened
3 Health, body and services Dative case, reflexive verbs, modal verbs in the past Describe symptoms, book appointments, deal with offices
4 Home, work and city life Comparatives and superlatives, adjective endings, two way prepositions Compare options, describe places, explain preferences
5 Plans, opinions and reasons Subordinate clauses with weil, dass and wenn, future with werden Give reasons, state opinions and talk about plans
6 Examination preparation Consolidation across all four skills, letter writing conventions Sit a full timed mock examination

Module two is the one that decides how A2 goes. The past tense is where German stops being a set of phrases and starts being a language you can tell a story in, and learners who rush it feel the consequence at B1 rather than here.

Which certificate does A2 give you?

A2 has three recognised certificates. Which one to take depends on what you plan to do next rather than on which is easiest.

Certificate Awarded by Notes
Goethe Zertifikat A2 Goethe Institut, Max Mueller Bhavan in India The most widely recognised. Test centres in several Indian cities
telc Deutsch A2 telc GmbH Widely accepted. Often the practical choice if you plan to continue with telc
OeSD Zertifikat A2 Austrian Language Diploma Recognised, less commonly used in India

A practical point most institutes will not tell you. If your plan runs through to a nursing or healthcare route, consider taking telc examinations from A2 onward, because the nursing specific examination at B2 is a telc paper. Staying inside one examination family means the format, the marking style and the question types are familiar by the time you reach the level that actually decides your career.

Two timing points that catch people out. First, examination slots in India commonly have a waiting period of several weeks, so book your test date while you are still studying rather than after the course ends. Applicants routinely finish the course and then lose a month waiting for a seat. Second, German missions in India expect the certificate to be recent, generally not older than one year at the time of application, so taking the examination far in advance of your visa application can leave you sitting it twice.

We tell you when to book, help you register, and run timed mock examinations in the final module so that the real thing is not the first time you have done it under pressure.

Build note on the dates. The returned sheet said not decided yet for every batch. That phrase must never appear on a live page, so the fallback wording is used above. Replace it the moment dates exist. A2 dates should follow your A1 completions: the A1 fast track finishing in early October and the A1 regular batch finishing mid November both need an A2 batch waiting for them, and students who take a break between levels lose ground.

Build note on the weekend row. The returned duration of four to four and a half months was copied from the A1 sheet. At eight hours a week that is roughly 152 hours, which fits a 140 hour course but not a 100 hour one, so it depends on what class hours settle at in item 1. Recalculate rather than reuse.

Item Standard Founding batch
Course fee Rs 17,000 Rs 15,000
Registration fee Ask us. Confirmed on your demo call Same
Study material Soft copies and notes, included Included
Mock examinations Included Included
Examination fee Paid directly to the examination body, not to us Same
Instalments Instalments and EMI available Available

The examination fee is paid to the examination body directly and is separate from the course fee. We say this on the page rather than at enrolment, because a fee nobody warned you about is the fastest way to lose a student’s trust.

Want the exact total for your batch? Book a free demo class and we will give you the full figure before you commit to anything, including registration, any instalment plan, and what the examination will cost you separately. No obligation to enrol after the demo.

Build note on registration. The returned sheet carried 10 percent in the fee table without stating what it is a percentage of. If registration is 10 percent of the course fee that is Rs 1,700 standard and Rs 1,500 founding, and it should be published as a rupee figure rather than a percentage. Percentages in a price table make a reader do arithmetic before they trust you.

Should you take A2 in the classroom or online?

At A2 the two options are closer than they were at A1. You already have a foundation, so you are no longer dependent on constant pronunciation correction, and live online at ninety minutes a day suits people who are working.

Classroom still has the edge on speaking practice, which matters at A2 because the examination includes a spoken section and because the past tense only becomes automatic through use rather than through study. If you can reach Sector 7 in Rohini without the journey becoming the reason you stop attending, take the classroom. If you cannot, take online and speak up in every session.

What comes after A2?

B1, for almost everyone. A2 to B1 is the largest single jump in the whole sequence, because B1 asks you to produce connected argument rather than assemble sentences. Students who move straight into the next B1 batch do noticeably better than those who take a break of a few months, and we would rather tell you that plainly than watch you repeat a level.

Your goal Where you stop Levels still to go after A2
Nursing recognition partnership entry A2 to depart, B2 to register Two, completed in Germany
Ausbildung, general B1 or B2 One or two
Ausbildung, healthcare B2 Two
Nursing recognition, full B2 Two
Permanent residence or citizenship B1 One
Job in Germany B1 or B2 One or two
German taught Masters C1 Three
German language job in India B1 or B2 One or two

Ready to move up from A1?

If you finished A1 recently, join the next A2 batch rather than waiting. If you learned German a while ago and are not sure where you stand, take a placement test, because entering A2 with a shaky A1 is the most common cause of trouble later.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the German A2 course take?

A2 needs roughly 100 to 140 hours of class time on top of A1. In calendar terms our fast track batch runs four hours a day and finishes in about five weeks, the regular weekday batch runs two hours a day over two and a half months, and live online runs an hour and a half a day over the same period. Add roughly the same again in self study.

The A2 course fee is Rs 17,000, currently Rs 15,000 for our founding batch. Study material and mock examinations are included, and instalments and EMI are available. The examination fee is separate and paid to the examination body directly. Book a demo and we will confirm your exact total, including registration, before you commit.

Yes, or the equivalent from previous study. A2 assumes you already have present tense, the case system and basic word order working automatically. If you learned German elsewhere, take a placement test rather than guessing, because entering A2 without a solid A1 is the most common reason people struggle later at B1.

No. Ausbildung positions generally require B1 as a minimum and increasingly B2. A2 is not accepted as a language qualification by employers or universities. The one exception is the nursing recognition partnership route, where A2 can be enough to enter Germany and continue learning while employed.

Under the recognition partnership route introduced in March 2024, nurses can enter Germany with A2 and complete B1 and B2 while working there. Full professional registration still requires B2. Rules vary by employer and by German state and have changed recently, so confirm your specific position before planning around it.

For several visa types, yes. An EU Blue Card carries no German language requirement at all. The Opportunity Card accepts B2 English in place of A1 German. English taught study programmes usually need none for admission. Family reunion is one of the few routes where a certificate is required by law. Check which visa you are applying for before assuming you need German.

No. A letter from a language institute, including ours, is not a language qualification. What is recognised is an examination certificate from a body such as Goethe, telc or the Austrian OeSD. You have to sit and pass the examination, and declaring your own level is not accepted anywhere that matters.

Goethe A2 is the most widely recognised. If your longer plan runs toward nursing or healthcare, consider telc instead, because the nursing specific B2 examination is a telc paper and staying inside one examination family means the format is familiar when it matters most.

We do not recommend it and most learners who try it end up repeating B1. A2 carries the past tense, the dative case and subordinate clauses, all of which B1 assumes you have. Skipping A2 saves a few weeks and usually costs a few months.

Between seven and ten, capped. Small batches matter at A2 because this is where speaking has to become automatic rather than considered, and that only happens if you get enough turns. In a class of thirty you will speak for two minutes an hour, which is not enough to build the past tense into reflex.
